Refractive surgery

Refractive errors such as myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism can now easily be corrected with refractive surgery.

Contact lenses pose risks to the cornea, such as intolerance, or infections, which can even lead to blindness.

It is preferable that one proceeds to refractive surgery to correct these visual anomalies.

It is necessary preoperatively to examine the eye and check if this is eligible to undergo refractive surgery. Thirty per cent of eyes do not qualify for laser, so other methods must be proposed to the patient.
Laser techniques are applied for many years, and are refined with excellent results.

The most common refractive surgery is done by Laser, either LASIK, or PRK. There are various other methods which are not as effective and can not be applied in all eyes.
