Dr Nicolas Matheou has participated at the special training on the glaucoma surgery of the Future, that was organised in Geneva on the 3 to 4 December 2016 by the International Society of Glaucoma Surgery, for 100 glaucoma specialists from around the world
It was a master class training including seminars and many hours of wet lab surgery.
The aim of the 1st Advanced Glaucoma Surgical WetLab Course was the improvement of the existing surgical techniques, as well as the research and hands on training of the forecoming Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery – MIGS.
MIGS concerns the implantation of microscopic devices in the eye, which decrease the intraocular pressure ina different and and simpler way from what is used today. Some of these implants are available in the USA and Europe, and others will appear in a few years when research will be completed.
Dr Matheou hopes that he will be able to make these techniques available in Greece as soon as possible.
